WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive of the European Union promotes recycling, waste reduction and stimulating a development of environmentally friendly products.
RoHS (Restriction of Use of Hazardous Substances) directive of the European Union aims at prohibition of certain hazardous substances used in the electronic and electric devices. These substances are hazardous to people's health and pollute the environment. Most of the devices nowadays are RoHS compliant i.e. meet these standards, such as, for example, iPod, HP computers, OKI printers.
